Yesterday Craig delivered part two of the Careers in Sport event where 4 local schools were brought on site at The Belfry Hotel & Resort to meet people doing some of the roles available including Green keeping, Golf Professional and Hospitality.
Around 80 students attended from The Polesworth School, The Coleshill School, Ash Green School and Nicholas Chamberlaine. All those in attendance were really engaged and a huge credit to their schools .
The feedback from students, teachers and the employers was amazing and Craig will be looking to host a third event same time next year!
There was a special treat at the end of the visit when the PGA brought in the Ryder Cup for students (and teachers!) to get their pictures with - something than can only be done when the European team are the current holders, which thanks to their heroics in Rome they are.
The final part of this scheme will be the opportunity for the students to get a “behind the scenes” tour of the course when it hosts the Nick Faldo British Masters in August. A great chance to see how much work goes into staging a big professional golf tournament.
Craig would like to extend a huge thank you DP World Tour The PGA The Belfry Hotel & Resort and British & International Golf Greenkeepers Association for making the day possible!
